Sad to say, upon doing a little research I discovered one of my favorite characters from that series passed away last April (2018), the same day as Studio Ghibli animator Isao Takahata.
Tim O'Connor (1927-2018) played the role of Dr. Elias Huer in Buck Rogers In The 25th Century (1979-1981).
Interestingly his final appearance in film was for a role in Dreams Awake (2011) opposite his Buck Rogers In The 25th Century co-star Erin Gray.
Apart from my memories of his work on soap opera General Hospital, O'Connor enjoyed science fiction roles in The Twilight Zone (1959-1964) for Season Four, Episode 16, On Thursday We Leave For Home and The Outer Limits (1963-1965) for Season One, Episode 24, Moonstone and Season Two, Episode 1, Soldier (with Michael Ansara).
O'Connor appeared in other classic television series including Wonder Woman (1977) for Season One two-parter, Episode 8/9, Judgment From Outer Space and Season Three, Episode 15, The Starships Are Coming, The Dukes Of Hazzard (1982), Knight Rider (1983; Brother's Keeper) and The A-Team (1984; Semi-Friendly Persuasion).
He returned to science fiction and guest starred on Star Trek: The Next Generation (1987-1994) for Season Five, Episode 21, The Perfect Mate (opposite Famke Janssen).
O'Connor passed away and he was 90.
