They'd Like To Teach The World To Sing In Perfect Harmony

Okay, maybe not the world, but the Coke commercial audio was just too perfect for this group of telepathic wack-a-doodles conceived by J. Michael Straczynski for Babylon 5.

Rocket Man

It was a classic that kind of worked for me here. A portion of the final exciting sequence from Babylon 5 Thirdspace.

Love Is Strange

I think Sheridan has done everything but the girl in Babylon 5. Bad joke. This song, Love Is Strange, is really sweet and taken from the recording Acoustic by Everything But The Girl. I recorded the scene to this version and thought it really fit the track like a glove.

Now, here is the classic from Mickey & Sylvia. Quirky but nice.

We're Going To Be Friends

The sincerity of their friendship and Lennier's loyalty to Delenn is always impressive.

Don't Talk Just Kiss

Sometimes you just wanna say, don't talk just kiss. Silly mood.

The King Is Dead

I always enjoyed this number by Peter Cox [as a member of Go West]. I know we're talking about the emperor, but close enough. Some of the lyric is quite good including "you let me in behind the lies."

Season-Ending Skyscraping With John Sheridan

It's been a pretty grueling run of heady intensity here at Sci-Fi Fanatic Babylon 5 central. In fact, it has been so mind-drainingly intense it was time for a bit of silly.

I have opted to focus in on the Season finales for both Season Two and Season Three of Babylon 5 and our fearless, skyscraping, void plunging, air jumping fool without a parachute, Captain John Sheridan.

You'll note there is an interesting contrast in tone between the two entries thanks to lighting and color. There is indeed a very different mood for each season ender. First, we have Season Two, The Fall Of Night, with all it's light, angelic Kosh and green gardens. It's fun to really look at the details in the background as he's falling. There are some very interesting patterns and what looks like some kind of water fountain in the clip. Also, I think they should have applied a bit of fan-blowing to his hair for effect. Perhaps it was illogical to apply wind because of the gravity created at the station's core.

Season Three, Z'Ha'Dum, is ultimately much darker. It is down and out scary and depressingly somber in tone. There isn't a bit of joy to be found in all that darkness surrounded by The Shadows. It is a complete blackout and I felt this classic number from Soundgarden really worked well for the sequence.

With three seasons under the belt which season finale has been your favorite?

Garibaldi Does The X-Files

Note how even Garibaldi gets creeped out by the puppet. Bloody no good puppets! Puppets are just no bloody good!

Arthur's Theme [The Best That You Can Do]

To quote Arthur from the movie Arthur, played by the late, great Dudley Moore, "sometimes I just think funny things." Anyway, this is completely ridiculous and I can hear you now. 'Good Lord.' Actually, I should be ashamed to admit it, but I actually liked this song at one time. I still might after hearing it again.

Well, "When you get caught between the moon and Babylon station I know he's crazy, but its true. If you get caught between the moon and Babylon station, the best that you can do, the best that you can do is fall in love."

Loving music and Babylon 5 together is a bit of a sickness I've discovered.

Black Is Black

I promise not to torture you with this for very long, but I didn't have AC/DC's Back In Black. So here you go. It was mildly amusing to me anyway. I know simple things... I like when the lyric gets to Sheridan's face. I was completely thinking Anna Sheridan. Anyway, here's the next in our goofy music video series...

Voices Of Babylon

Back in the day a little group came along called The Outfield. They weren't anything extraordinary, but my younger brother and I would run around singing "Josie's on a vacation far away" with our handy air guitars. That was a line from their big hit Your Love. Anyway, the act sounded more American-oriented rock than they did English for a band hailing out of London. Needless to say they tempted credibility on their third album, Voice Of Babylon. They may not have succeeded but they have a load of great car songs and I've always had a nostalgic soft spot for their stuff including this title track from the aforementioned recording which fit perfectly for the Babylon 5, Season 3 episode, Messages From Earth, and the opening line, "Hit the message I can hear you calling."

Dust Is The Drug!

There is no other explanation for these indulgences other than the fact it's just kind of fun for me to have a good time while I'm watching Babylon 5. Certainly this is one science fiction series quite worthy of cool music videos. My kids come along and say things like "what the heck are you doing?"

Anyway, I'm off and running with the next episode, but I loved listening to Roxy Music [a riff on Love Is The Drug] while enjoying the always amazing Andreas Katsulas. The physical drama Katsulas delivers as G'Kar through all of that latex is simply astounding. The man is an amazing actor.

Ancient Space Disco Ball Remixes

The mind works in funny ways sometimes, but this was just something that was playing in my head so I just had to try it for a laugh. If you didn't know I'm a pretty avid music fan along with my love for science fiction. I like music alot and just about any category will do. This was more or less an experiment. The end result was okay given it was done on the fly. I slowed down the sequence a touch.

I'm digging the Minbari keyboardists!

Please folks that is not Barry Gibb. Perhaps the 5th mystery Gibb brother Marcus, but not Barry. By the way, Ivanova is very sexy in slow motion.

I'll tell you what, that ship Straczynski and company created is such a psychedelic spectacle it is undeniably one of the coolest I have ever seen in sci-fi.
