It has been quite a run of exciting news of late.
The X-Files are back on with Chris Carter returning and David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson reprising their roles as Fox Mulder and Dana Scully respectively. Not to mention Mitch Pileggi and William B. Davis, a.k.a. The Cigarette Smoking Man, are both on board. I mean Wow!
Another favorite TV Series is Hannibal and Season Three is shaking out to be a real treat particularly for fans of horror and those who might have enjoyed Chris Carter's Millennium (1996-1999), Directors Vincenzo Natali (Cube) and Neil Marshal (The Descent) have been joined by none other than director Guillermo del Toro. Our Pacific Rim maestro will be handling directorial chores on an episode this season. Holy cow!
Meanwhile, I'm beginning to worry we may never see the final chapter of the Evangelion film series by Hideaki Anno and Studio Khara. Never mind that fans of the classic anime are still waiting on an American release of Evangelion 3.33: You Can (Not) Redo (2012). The aforementioned film has been available since November 2012. News was announced on March 31 that director/writer/animator Hideaki Anno (Neon Genesis Evangelion, Nadia The Secret Of Blue Water, Gunbuster, His And Her Circumstances) was joining forces with Shinji Higuchi (Royal Space Force: The Wings Of Honneamise, Gamera trilogy, Attack On Titan), both founders of Studio Gainax, for the next big Godzilla film to be released by Toho in Japan. Schwing! Are you kidding me!? I'm not. That was first read on The Good, The Bad And Godzilla.
And sadly, the creator of the Pet Rock passed away Tuesday. How exactly did Gary Ross Dahl pull that off!? This proves once again we are hardly the brightest bulbs.
And now for the capper.
It was announced today that a big American studio was in negotiation to take on a live-action version of Battle Of The Planets. Industrial Light And Magic is on board for The Phoenix. No Asian actors have been tapped for the project as of yet. So get those angry letter-writing and e-mail campaigns sharpened. But word has it they have Dave Franco on retainer for the role of team leader Mark. Nick Offerman who played mustachioed Ron Swanson of Parks And Recreation (2009-2015) acclaim is set to play Tiny. Kenny Baker is pegged for 7-Zark-7 following Star Wars. The remaining cast choices are being sorted out. And yes, this last bit was hand crafted for AFD. Ah, AFD. Oh yeah it is.
Still, a blogger can dream right.
And no worries, if you bought into my AFJ. It appears Guillermo del Toro is a non-starter too. I fell hook, line and sinker. You see how sordid and twisted this day can get. Brutal I say. I'm still waiting to see if the Hideaki Anno info is false.
According to Troy Foreman as of April 2 Fox had not confirmed The Cigarette Smoking Man's William B Davis or Mitch Pileggi. So there you go. April 1st is just a horror show.

I'd be on board for a live action Battle of the Planets. I saw that the X-Files were being ramped up again too. That's cool news. I always feel apprehensive about some of this news beforehand until it actually is finished otherwise it could end up like Evangelion. Sheesh!
All I can say for the Pet Rock, is that it was like Rubik's Cube in some ways, sort of a fad. But damn I bet he was laughing all the way to the bank. I should be so lucky.
True. They certainly like to float news like potential trades in baseball. Sometimes the rumors fly and there isn't much substance to it.
Yeah, God bless the pet rock guy. All the power to inventor's spirit. I fully support it.
