Season Of Firsts Or First Seasons

Here at Musings Of A Sci-Fi Fanatic we, excuse me---me, myself and I, pride ourselves on writing about science fiction television and film. You dear reader might well be aware this is not the most prolific spot to visit on the Internet or, more specifically, the blogosphere for that matter. Unfortunately Musings is but one man. Were we to have an army of writers perhaps things would be different and more in step with those other fun and fertile geek sites. Cloning just hasn't taken off like I had hoped.

Of course it wouldn't be a personal BlogSpot that it is focused on the singular and personal musings of one man if it were an amalgamation of writers now would it? Now where would the fun be in that?

No, with Musings Of A Sci-Fi Fanatic each week brings a certain lure of unpredictability, dare I say mystery, to the proceedings.

What singular post might be arriving on any given day? What completely random oddity might be lurking around next week's corner? There is a sense of wonder to it all. I like to think.

In fact, funny enough, I've often wondered if I could finish just about anything I start. So much science fiction and so little time.

When this blog first got off the ground the writer was experimenting and undisciplined and just having a bit of fun with it all. Where I've taken this ship for better or worse is ultimately for you to decide. Personally the growth as a writer is a fascinating thing to experience.

And so in the beginning I had covered the entirety of Babylon 5 (1993-1998) albeit with a far less discerning eye and far less care than I've come to expect from myself writing here today.

Truth be told, I often write with an attempt to analyze a given science fiction series whilst refraining from excessive summarization of a given episode of television or a film. This is something I've improved upon with a self-expectation of getting even better.

As someone who expects you may have discovered this site as a fan of science fiction, well, as a writer I'm beginning to simply assume you the reader and analyst is often already familiar with the general content of a given series or film and might simply enjoy someone else's take or assessment of the material you love.

Over time I've made adjustments and as a writer I'm working hard to articulate the finer points and trim the fat so to speak. This is always a challenge. Avoid being verbose. Keep it simple.

For this writer, above and beyond film of any genre, my preference is to absorb the very best of science fiction television. It always has been. This is why so much of the site is excusive to episodic television.

But being one man there is only so much I can cover. Funny enough I have several first season balls literally up in the air. I was considering this point the other day and thought I'd jot down some random thoughts about attempting to cover a whole season of television. It is a process. And with my love of science fiction TV it's an extraordinary one.

For those of you paying attention I actually am approaching something of a first (aside from Babylon 5), and that is completing coverage analysis on a single season of science fiction.

Like any writer, I'm personally unhappy with my handling of some entries I've penned on some of these programs in the past. Some of those I plan to rectify in the future, but for now they stand as testament to the progress of a blogger and a writer and the direction I've taken for this site. But yes some of those entries should have been and could have been better and they would be so today if I had them to write again.

Those on board this rocket ship, Musings Of A Sci-Fi Fanatic will find we are fast approaching finishing coverage of the following series and their Season One episodes: LOST (2004-2010), The Incredible Hulk (1977-1982), Space:1999 (1975-1977), Stargate SG-1 (1997-2007), Stargate Universe (2009-2011), The Expanse (2015-), Knights Of Sidonia (2014-2015), Farscape (1999-2003) and Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles (2008-2009).

So which one will we finally finish here at Musings Of A Sci-Fi Fanatic first!? And which series will we start or continue with? Your guess is probably as good as mine. Hopefully the coverage here keeps you tuned in to find out. See ya around space cowboy!
