I've been on a sci-fi anime binge of late and will likely be for the foreseeable future. Maybe 2015 is the year of sci-fi anime for me. Well, Musings Of A Sci-Fi Fanatic must follow his muse.
In the meantime, I thought I'd deliver you some short science fiction posts in the purest sense while I intend on pounding away at the keyboard to articulate some decent analysis on the best of sci-fi anime. I make every effort to give you something worthwhile to read from the realm of sci-fi anime.
This is the SciFiNow Top 10 Greatest Science Fiction Films Ever. For a more comprehensive list of the best in science fiction films PERIOD, be sure to check out my comprehensive post dubbed Science Fiction On Film: A Visual History. That post is always updated right here.

The SciFiNow list from Issue #44 is based upon a reader's poll.
It's a relatively perfect selection actually or at least an arguably perfect one. It's hard to quibble. Though, my list would still differ and hopefully I will bring that to you very soon. Blade Runner and The Matrix are two personal favorites. But let's be honest it's pretty difficult to narrow down all science fiction to just ten choices. But it's fun to see people try. It would appear the folks awaiting the latest Star Wars entry will be there in droves.
Pretty good list or as good as any. I might kick out E.T. --I've just lost the love for it throughout the years. I might substitute John Carpenter's The Thing, or if sticking with Spielberg go for his Close Encounters.
ReplyDeleteI prefer the first Terminator film over the sequel too. Otherwise I agree, great list. Other films that might be on mine, and here I find it hard to choose (as you said there's just too many great SF films), but 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, Mysterious Island, and In Search of the Castaways. And one film that's hard to categorize as SF is the original King Kong. At least I think of it that way.
I'm with you. E.T. would be a goner.
ReplyDeleteA pretty good list. But that is one of those topics that is just nearly impossible to feel you've done justice to. Each time you finish it, you see something else you could add or remove. But for my money "Ghost in the Shell" has to be on any top 10 sci-fi list.
ReplyDeleteIn all honesty, I definitely had blinders on intentionally staying away from anime, but you're not wrong.
ReplyDeleteGhost In The Shell would easily deserve a spot Roman. What a GREAT sci-fi film
