Here Comes The Snow Again

"Here comes the snow again, falling on my head like a memory, falling on my head like a new emotion."

-A twist on the Eurythmics' Here Comes The Rain Again from Touch (1983)-

Pick up your good luck stuff, grab your Tauntauns and suit up people we're going in.

Yes, it's blizzard time once again and we're not sneaking out of the winter quietly on this one. Brace for impact.  Things are about to get ugly.  Stay warm.  Pray the power holds and grab the essentials.

Good luck people!

We're back!

To bury you again.

These things never end well.

The Dark side is raining down on a neighborhood near you.

Prepare for battle!

A terrific art image created by Christopher Reach.

Heavy snow is never good for small dogs.

Emily Browning in a snow storm. Essential. I'm warm already.

True.  That never ended well.  Blizzards do the trick.

That's about the size of it.

Hey, is that the Observer?  I'm running now.

Be safe all.  Live long and prosper.

  1. Good luck with the blizzard, my northerly neighbor!

I’ve done everything I can to prepare for blizzard Nemo as they've dubbed it. With predictions here in Southeastern Massachusetts of up to two feet of snow and wind gusts of up to 60 mph at the storm’s peak, I have no doubt we’ll lose power. Even if Tauntauns did exist I would never climb into one, because as Han Solo expressed it so well, “Ugh. And I thought they smelled bad on the outside.”

  2. Love that Solo line.

Well, I'm thinking of you pal.

This ain't gonna be pretty, but I'm cautiously optimistic.

At 60mph we might escape the power outage.

I'm praying for you and let's think positive and hope for the best.

Fingers crossed brother. Do check back!

  3. You need an image from "Death's Other Dominion". As a Marylander who has seen some blizzards, I hope you guys make out ok.

  4. Thanks for the well wishes jdigriz!

I've just got myself to a warm place. I'm trying to write up an update for later, but needless to say, we got slammed!

    Take care

  6. We still have no power and it is getting COLD!

I'm writing this from my iPod at work. National Grid is telling us that my town may not have power back until Wednesday!

This was was oy the 5th worst storm for the Boston area. What would have happened if it was the worst?

  7. Doc.
So good to hear that you are okay first of all. Honestly, you have been in my prayers and thoughts along with others I know.

It is indeed cold and nmbing and I only really endured that for a full day.

Clearly I have been fortunate. Wednesday feels a long way off, but the more people are getting their power the sooner it might happen for you. I hope.

I know staying warm and getting a little food or something warm to drink can be a challenge.

I still worked my ass off today and I have bloody knuckles to prove it.

Anyway, my sincerest wishes that you recover your power soon. You're in my prayers.

The longer it went the more I thought about that tauntaun.

Good luck Doc! And you're right it was bad enough.

  8. Thanks for your concern, Sci-Fi Fanatic.

We got our power back last night at 9:30 pm, which was 73 hours after we lost it Friday night. I was so beat from shoveling at home Saturday/Sunday and then at work yesterday, I just went straight to sleep.

Needless to say, the Bride and I are talking about about buying a generator before the next storm.

BTW: I did read your "I Remember That" post before hitting the hay and it was very well written. Family definately makes these difficult times a little easier; even when they sometimes make them more difficult.

    Take care.

  9. I'm so pleased to hear that. You were right about us losing power after all, but I'm pleased to see you got your power back earlier than anticipated as I had hoped.

Yeah, still haven't bought a generator. I still think we are going without for now and yet this is the second big hit. Maybe third time will be the charm.

Thanks for your remarks. Yes, family definitely brings a smile through it all.

I still smell smoke in the room thanks to the bride.

Get warm. I feel your pain. You definitely feel weather beaten after this one. All the best Doc.
