Prometheus Promo

The wait is over. Prometheus [2012] finally arrived from the mind of Ridley Scott. My reflections on Alien [1979] and Prometheus coming soon.

In blog space no one can hear you scream.

  1. I know Prometheus is supposed to be a prequel to Alien, but I don’t think it servers the film well to compare it to Scott’s original film. Prometheus is definitely a much more ambitious film thematically than Alien. I like them both, but while they exist in the same universe, they tell very different kinds of stories.

  3. Thanks TFC. I agree Doc.

I think the film lends itself to a discussion of the two films given its place within that universe, but the contrast is indeed stark in many respects and they are different. I don't disagree.

  4. To me, PROMETHEUS has it both ways, it's a prequel and a stand-alone film. As the screenwriter has said, at the film's end it can really split off in two ways:

    1. right into ALIEN

    2. into a sequel where the surviving crew member and the android go off to find the Engineer's homeworld.

  5. Hello J.D.

I must tell you, as you'll soon read, I did not see those remarks by the screenwriter, but apparently understood exactly that point. I agree.

I tried to write my reflection s on this thing down as soon as I saw the film before reading a whole lot about it.

I didn't want to influence my take on it.

Cheers for that input J.D.. I couldn't agree more.
