The Kiss [Love, Science Fiction Style], Part I

Okay that's not kissing!
*
What better way to ring in the new year than with the all important science fiction kiss?
*
This post was a work in progress and my original plan was to present it as my contribution to an ongoing film meme last year, but it was scratched. I was inspired to assemble Science Fiction Images In Techni-COLOR in its place. I was ultimately happier with the latter idea for the meme. The Kiss took a backseat for the better part of 2010. Then, funny thing, my friend and Author John Kenneth Muir released his own post under his Cult TV Faces banner with the auspicious title of The Cult TV Faces Of: The Kiss. Still, with all that we have in common and all of the science fiction shows we both love, surprisingly, our posts still stand alone, but together. They are essentially a complement to one another as it turns out. See for yourself. Without further adieu, pucker up and enjoy Love, Science Fiction Style with The Kiss, Part I.

  1. Wowee! That's where sci-fi meets fantasy. Great research too!

  2. SFF: Hot damn! What a gallery! I love it. Some attractive people there...and some great moments in film and television too.

    Wonderful stuff, my friend,

  3. You've assembled one really fine collection there, SFF. I appreciate the old and new Spock pecks you have included (the poor fellow really didn't get a lot of real action, especially with that hound-dog Kirk gobbling up the hot females in each quadrant). Also great to see that smoking kiss of Deckard and Rachel's from BLADE RUNNER making the cut. Way to go! Thanks.

  4. I second the kiss from BLADE RUNNER which comes from a scene that displays a complex spectrum of emotions giving Deckard and Rachel's relationship and unusual spin to it.

  5. Porky- thank you.
    JKM- thank you.
    Leopard13 & J.D.- thank you.

    Thank you all.

I agree, that Blade Runer image is just filled with all kinds of power especially given the complexity of those characters and what Deckard represents which is fairly ambiguous in the film and the book, but I believe the book, Do Androids Dream Of Electric Sheep?, suggests he is a replicant.

  6. I love the Planet of the Apes kiss. . .it's basically an allegory for Heston's discovery of faith in a soul (which, of course, gets shattered a mere two minutes later).

    Great post! Love the images.
