This was absorbing on a dramatic level as far as human beings were concerned. I agree with you on Marta. I knew it was a struggle and I'm sure there was indeed tension. I just didn't have much more to add on that subject simply because I don't know exactly how the other cast members saw one another.

It seemed like, as you said, there were two camps of a sort. Perhaps many of the cast members attempted to be neutral in the spirit of good will, but I do know of the frustrations on Guy's part from what you have written. And, of course, know of Jonathan Harris' opinions on the matter too. He was never bashful about expressing his feelings on becoming the center of the show.

Cheers!SFFhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04256589316922398158noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1031498593064294214.post-18297441014451449672013-10-31T16:27:29.897-04:002013-10-31T16:27:29.897-04:00What I had read about Guy Williams was off of his ...What I had read about Guy Williams was off of his site. He died befoe there was an internet, so his site was make by his son, Guy Jr. and a few loyal friends/fans. It said that Guy was extremely unhappy during the making of the show. Especially when is became based on the silly antics of Dr. Smith. Guy wanted to steer the show back on course. He wanted to lose the camp and make it more scientific and believable. Of course things got worse instead of better. Guy finally gave up and relegated himself as a background actor. And he did have to fight to get a line in there every now and then. All this did create friction between the cast mates. There were two sides, Guys side, and Jonathan Harris side. We all know who won. It's pretty obvious. Guy was promised many things with LIS, and had high hopes for the series. I believe that's why he was so estranged from the rest of the cast. Guy wanted to make something to be proud of....but instead he felt he was part of a laughing stock. I think that's why he moved to South America, where he was revered as Zorro. The people there loved and adore him. I was shocked when I saw a video of him speaking Spanish. He spoke it fluently although he hasn't a drop of Spanish or Mexican blood in him.SpaceLove65https://www.blogger.com/profile/12161225767439042342noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1031498593064294214.post-76393927656546832072013-10-31T11:10:31.183-04:002013-10-31T11:10:31.183-04:00Hi SpaceLove65,

I only know what I have read from Starlog Magazine and Mark Goddard's autobio.

I can only surmise that Guy was something of the star, was generally a good cast mate, but sometimes something of a movie star in attitude. This is my guess and perhaps since he passed away so early, it may be out of respect for his passing they don't say too much.

But I'm sure they had many good days as well.

Best
sffSFFhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04256589316922398158noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1031498593064294214.post-71765297858254998782013-10-29T23:34:53.320-04:002013-10-29T23:34:53.320-04:00I agree with a lot of what you said about this epi...I agree with a lot of what you said about this episode. It's not one of my favorites. I crack up every time I see the Judy plant-clone at dinner time and ranting, "I DON"T WANT ANY SALAD!!"

There is something I wanted to ask you about. You had quoted Mark Goddard about his feelings about his costars in the series. I've seen hundred of videos of the LIS csst...and none of them really remark much about Guy Williams. I truly liked Guy, and adored his portrayal of John Robinson. He was like the perfect dad. Do you know why nobody ever mentions him? I know Guy passed in 1989...and was granted a Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. But do you know what his cast-members truly thought about him. I have often wondered about this. Guy seemed so perfect as John Robinson...but was he kinda horsey on the set? Goddard didn't get along with Guy. And Jonathan Harris didn't care for Guy either. I know that Bill Mumy nicknamed Guy, "The Comb" since he was always combing his hair on the set. But do you have any idea what Guy's costars REALLY thought about him. Especially Bill Mumy. Thanks! :)SpaceLove65https://www.blogger.com/profile/12161225767439042342noreply@blogger.com
