I haven't seen that film but I get it.

Big Man Japan is worth a look if you enjoy these kinds of films. It's really that simple. Would my brother like it? Would my mom like it? Hell No! No way! :)

As far as Daimajin - good call and good recommendation from your friend based on memory.

I purchased the new Blu-Ray set myself and I look forward to watching them again some day soon.

I recall really enjoying them in the spirit of the kaiju films of that era. I haven't seen the films in a very long time which is why I do look forward to watching them again.

They are fairly serious in tone and may even be a little more substantial in plot than some kaiju films if memory serves my friend.

Btw, all, look forward to seing any of your thoughts on BMJ should you watch the film over at your sites. Not that they are similar in subject matter, but they are on the fringe of movie making, and they are weird & bizarre, and over the top. I have to be in a certain mood to watch them, but if you are looking for something out of the ordinary these films are around.

I'd not heard of Big Man Japan, and it looks crazy enough to be fun. I wondered if you ever seen the Daimajin films? I've added them to my NF queue as a friend said they were an early kaiju-type film. I've put it on my "to watch" list. I think I'll have to go solo with this one. My wife can take a certain amount of Japanese weirdness, but there comes a point where she just gives up. I get the feeling this will cross that line about 30 seconds in. :)

Thanks for the review! I'm always on the look out for more "oh the Japan-ity" moments.Roman J.
