I certainly don't know enough abou thim to comment fairly.

I never did see Cool World. I did have the soundtrack.

Like yourself, I remember seeing Lord Of The Rings in theatres and I thought his vision of that was remarkable at the time. I was completely engaged and his combination of live action and animation blew me away back in the day.

Fire & Ice was another beauty. I really enjoyed that one as well. Thanks for the memories.SFFhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04256589316922398158noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1031498593064294214.post-40499530773319056452010-05-19T15:39:12.307-04:002010-05-19T15:39:12.307-04:00What do you think of Ralph Bakshi's stuff? I really did enjoy his animated take on THE LORD OF THE RINGS and FIRE & ICE is a pretty interesting film but I wasn't too crazy about COOL WORLD.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08164105442273577128noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1031498593064294214.post-50917718809955591052010-05-19T14:28:52.835-04:002010-05-19T14:28:52.835-04:00Thanks J.D.. Sometimes watching the in depth features raise new ideas or thoughts about a work.

Watership Down was a one of those pictures I remember fondly. As far as 2D goes, it's a delight and filled with mature themes not often found in animation. The Iron Giant is a great example- well said. Pixar is always wonderful, flawless really. It's like comparing apples and oranges isn't it?

This would indeed be a perfect example of 2D at its finest next to some of the Disney classics.SFFhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04256589316922398158noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1031498593064294214.post-9044800089422995152010-05-19T10:12:10.624-04:002010-05-19T10:12:10.624-04:00Wow, what a fantastic, well-written, in-depth piec...Wow, what a fantastic, well-written, in-depth piece on this film. I have never seen this film before but am really curious to check it out now!

I completely agree with you re: 2D animation. I just can't get into computer animation with the notable exception of Pixar. I also felt that one of the best 2D animated film in the last decade or two was THE IRON GIANT. Amazing stuff. A film that still holds up.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08164105442273577128noreply@blogger.com
